Pest control continues making headlines throughout the country as evidenced by a pair of articles appearing recently in the New York Times.
On March 24, the Times published an article titled “When 2nd-Home Owners Are Gone, Pests Can Become Guests.” The article focused on animal and pest encounters that often face residents at their second homes.
Cindy Mannes, executive director of the Professional Pest Management Alliance, and Dr. Mike Potter, University of Kentucky, talked about factors that make second homes inviting for guests, and the following industry professionals provided pest management insights: Jim Geyer,a regional manager covering the Jersey Shore area for J. C. Ehrlich; Jams McHale Jr., the president and staff entomologist at JP McHale Pest Management in Buchanan, N.Y; and Arthur Katz, president of Knockout Pest Control, in Uniondale, N.Y.

On Saturday, the Times ran an article titled “Squeamishly Waging the Rodent War”. In this article Mannes reviewed some of the hazards associated with rodents. John Adcock Jr., president of Maryland-based Adcock's Trapping Service also detailed his military-like rodent control approach.
The article reviewed common rodent products and control strategies and also explored the rise in popularity of do-it-yourself products.
