The total U.S. William Blair/PCO Bookkeepers & M&A Specialists Pest Index increased 11 percent year-over-year in December 2024, accelerating from the 9 percent result in November. December’s results are slightly above the long-term average pest index growth rate of 10 percent.
“After normalizing for one more workday in December, the pest index ended the year on a soft note in December, growing only 6 to 7 percent year-over-year,” said William Blair Equity Researcher Tim Mulrooney. “This is below the strong result we observed in November and more in line with index performance in September and October.”
Dan Gordon, managing member of PCO Bookkeepers & M&A Specialists, adds, “From a data perspective, the index has consistently shown the resiliency of our industry.”
The month’s results by segment include:
· The Residential Pest Index increased 9 percent year-over-year.
· The Commercial Pest Index increased 13 percent year-over-year.
· The Termite Index increased 12 percent year-over-year.
· The Bed Bug Index increased 27 percent year-over-year.
· The Mosquito Index decreased 4 percent year-over-year.
