BUDAPEST, Hungary — Rats are showing signs of resistance to modern pesticides and while the capital is still almost rodent-free, resistant specimens have been found in southeast Hungary, national daily Nepszabadsag said on Thursday.
The number of rats immune to first-generation anti-coagulants is on the increase all over Europe, Daniel Bajomi, head of the Hungarian pesticide association, told the paper.
Bajomi added that some rats have even developed resistance to the second or third generation pesticides.
