Final Night Banquet Ends PestWorld on a High Note

Popular local band The Walkens performed during the Final Night Banquet.

PHOENIX, Ariz. — At the PestWorld 2013 Final Night Banquet, about 700 guests dined on Caesar salad, steak and dessert, danced with old friends and new to music of the 80s to today, and bid on Live Auction items to raise more than $18,000.

After thanking NPMA, Dan Carrothers of BASF, who sponsored the event, said, "I have been a big supporter of NPMA for many, many years. They are the rising tide that lifts all our boats." About BASF, he said, the most important thing we can do is keep being innovative. That's our job at BASF – to keep bringing innovation to you that makes you successful."

Included in the rousing Live Auction that followed the dinner were an NPMA PestWorld 2014 Package for Two donated by NPMA; Indianapolis 500 Race Package donated by Dow AgroSciences; The Big Apple Experience donated by Assured Environments, The Bug Doctor and the New York Pest Management Association; A Taste of Napa Valley donated by Clark Pest Control; and The Georgia Gold Experience donated by Allgood Pest Solutions, BB&T Insurance Services, Cook's Pest Control, Residex, Rollins Inc., Syngenta, Arrow Exterminators and TAP Insulation.

Chosen "Best of Our Valley" in Arizona Foothills Magazine for 2011, 2012 and 2013, the band, The Walkens, provided the music for the evening, setting an atmosphere of sound from current artists to those of yesterday, with crowds on the dance floor moving to everything from the Isley Brothers' "Shout" to Charlie Daniels' "Devil Went Down to Georgia" and Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean."

In a departure from previous years, the 2013 Final Night Banquet was not a black-tie event but that change had no impact on the excitement and fun of the exuberant evening.
