The Pompano Beach-based company was started in Miami by Hank and Ruth Petri in July 1956. Son-in-law Brendan Cavanagh joined Petri in 1972 and was instrumental in the company’s expansion into Broward and Palm Beach counties. Cavanagh, president of the company, was joined by son, Chris Cavanagh, in 1995. Chris is now following in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps in building the family business based on an emphasis of taking care of the customer. Rounding out the family involvement in the business is Hank and Ruth Petri’s daughter and Chris’s mother, Deborah Lausier, secretary-treasurer.
People have long recognized the big, red P and bright yellow trucks as a sign of professionals. Recently, the company revised its logo to simply “Petri,” positive pest solutions since 1956. “Petri” is a full service pest control company providing pest control, rodent control, lawn and shrub spraying and treatments for subterranean and drywood termites.
