NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Stanford Phillips of Northwest Exterminating was presented with the Young Entrepreneur Award, while Copesan President Deni Naumann was given NPMA's Women of Excellence Award at PestWorld's Thursday General Session, a Syngenta-sponsored presentation given by mountain climber/author Alison Levine.
Phillips was recognized with the Young Entrepreneur Award, sponsored by Rentokil. John Myers, president and CEO, Rentokil North America, presented Phillips with the award. Additionally, three individuals were acknowledged as Rising Stars - and received Young Achiever Awards. These individuals were Andrew Richardson with Edge Pest Control, Joey Toth with Pitbull Pest Control and Daniel Collins with On Point Pest Control.
NPMA's Women of Excellence Award was presented to Copesan President Deni Naumann. She was recognized for her outstanding leadership and contributions to the development and growth of other women in the industry. Presenting the award was Todd Ferguson, president of Target Specialty Products.
Several other awards were presented prior to the session:
• The Entomological Society of America (ESA) presented the ACE Professional Award to Michael Goldman. This award recognizes the superior contributions of an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) in the field of structural pest management. Goldman, president of Purity Pest Control, has been in the pest management industry for over 35 years and was the first non-US resident to earn the ACE designation after ESA amended the program rules to require a US pesticide applicators license to apply for the ACE. He is a past president (2 terms) of the Structural Pest Management Association of Ontario and served as Conference Chairman for over 12 years.
• NPMA named its Commercial Committee its “Committee of the Year.”
• Justin McCauley of Arkansas-based McCauley Services was recognized as Committee Chair of the Year. McCauley has been instrumental in the development of the upcoming Pestech 3.0.
