PHOENIX — The demolition of a Phoenix hotel is sending rats and mice scurrying to refuge in nearby buildings, including some at Arizona State University's downtown campus.
The low-slung Ramada Inn building is being knocked down to make room for a parking lot and eventually a new ASU law school.
A university advisory obtained by The Arizona Republic says rats have been spotted at the nursing building northeast of the Ramada Inn and at the University Center to the west.
ASU's director of facilities and property management wrote that the city was working to deal with rodents at the demolition site and the university brought in pest control to deal with the problem at university buildings.
