Pi Chi Omega Accepting Applications for Norm Ehmann Pest Management Award

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Pi Chi Omega, the national pest management fraternity, announced it is accepting applications for the Norm Ehmann Endowment. The Norm Ehmann Endowment was established to help solve urban pest management issues relevant to the Pacific Northwest. The endowment was initiated to support research, extension and/or educational activities relevant to urban pest management.

One or more grants for the period 2007-2008 will be awarded to individuals that submit proposals selected for funding. Proposals are welcome from all urban pest management researchers, but Pi Chi Omega expects the proposed research to include pests that are located in the Pacific Northwest. The amount of each grant has not been established but the Pi Chi Omega is planning for a total amount of $13,000 to be made available for this funding period.

Topics of current interest include: Odorous house ants Carpenter ants Subterranean termites, Anobiid beetles, and other wood-destroying organisms Yellowjackets and other wasps Arthropod pests of all stored products Mosquitoes and other medically important arthropods Rodents Other pest problems
