At NPMA PestWorld last week in Boston, the Pi Chi Omega board created the Dr. John Osmun Memorial Scholarship. This new scholarship will be the top scholarship offered to the best student applicant each year and will be at a higher dollar value than the regular scholarships. Pi Chi Omega is pleased to honor Dr. Osmun in this manner, recognizing his vast contributions to the industry, Pi Chi Omega, and Purdue Entomology. Osmun passed away on Oct. 13, at age 94, following a storied career in the pest control industry and at Purdue (see related story).
OTHER NEWS. In other Pi Chi Omega news, the fraternity voted in its two newest board members:
Judy Black, BCE of The Steritech Group and
Hao Yu, Ph.D., BCE of Guardian Pest Solutions
Also at PestWorld, Pi Chi Omega awarded Dr. Terry Whitworth with a plaque of recognition for his generous contribution of $2000 to allow for the awarding of a fourth student scholarship in 2012.
