FAIRFAX, Va. — The Professional Pest Management Alliance announced the release of its spring Bug Barometer, a forecast of what Americans can expect in terms of pests in each region of the country based on past and current weather patterns. In addition to the press release and infographic, PPMA also produced its first-ever animated Bug Barometer video featuring NPMA's Jim Fredericks, Ph.D. He can be heard giving viewers a glimpse into the regional pest predictions.
On the media relations front, the PPMA team has been busy with media interactions and it sure is paying off. Popular Science published a full online feature story on the pest forecast, quoting Jim AND hyperlinking to PestWorld.org. Since then, the article has been picked up by many other distinguished outlets including MSN.com, RawStory.com (an online outlet with 9,391,675 unique monthly visitors), Newser.com, and even overseas on DailyMail.co.uk. As icing on the cake, the article’s content was also discussed by co-host Robin Quivers on “The Howard Stern Show.”
PPMA's content syndication, in a mere two days, has garnered 1.6 million impressions resulting in 1,726 clicks for an average CTR of 0.11%. The top two publishers are CNN.com and FoxNews.com.
Additionally, Buzz60, which produces video content for viewers looking for short and quirky news clips, covered the Bug Barometer. They developed a minute-long video that features our infographic and pest forecast, which was syndicated to USAToday.com, MSN.com and AOL.com.
