FAIRFAX Va. — The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the consumer marketing and public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), introduced its latest video project, Do Not Disturb, to show consumers just how easy it is to accidentally disturb stinging or biting insects.
Wasps, yellowjackets and hornets are a common nuisance at cookouts in late summer and early autumn as populations are at their peak. In the Do Not Disturb video series, PPMA is not only reminding consumers about the threats posed by stinging insects, but to also equip them with easy-to-follow tips to minimize their risks of pest stings or bites.
“While most people are likely aware of stinging insects’ defense mechanisms, many may not realize how little of effort is required to solicit a reaction from these pests,” said Jim Fredericks, board-certified entomologist and Executive Director of PPMA. “Our mission with the production of Do Not Disturb is to demonstrate just how easy it is to accidentally disturb a stinging or biting insect colony, and the lengths that these pests will go to in order to protect themselves as a result.”
With three new, thrilling episodes, Do Not Disturb is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as they’re left wondering how these pests may react when an outside force disrupts their nest. Viewers will leave each episode with actionable steps they can take to avoid these pests at all costs.
New episodes can be found on DoNotDisturb.pestworld.org and @PestWorld social media channels. For more information about PPMA, visit http://www.NPMApestworld.org/PPMA.
