KEY WEST, FLA.— Visitors to the historic Harry S. Truman Little White House can enjoy learning about American history without termites standing in their way. Gulf Coast Exterminating partnered with Bayer Environmental Science to donate a treatment of Premise Termite Control to protect the structure from these silent destroyers.

Located on the waterfront of Key West, the Little White House gained notoriety when it served as an operating White House during the presidency of Harry Truman. Previously, it served as the naval commander’s quarters and visiting quarters for such influencers as Thomas Edison. The house has officially hosted six presidents as well as Secretary of State, Colin Powell. Today, visitors can enjoy guided tours through the home as well as host special events on the property.

“We have struggled with the problem of termites for years,” says Bob Wolz, director of the Little White House. “We are so grateful to be working with Gulf Coast Exterminating and Premise Termite Control to protect this museum so the community can continue to enjoy it.”

Gulf Coast Exterminating treated the Little White House using Premise for drywood termites. Premise insecticide, a non-repellent termiticide, features the active ingredient imidacloprid.

“This structure is valuable not only to Key West, but to the country,” says Michael Bairstow of Gulf Coast Exterminating. “We wanted to treat the Little White House with a product that would be effective quickly and provide long-lasting control to prevent any future damage from termites.”

“Bayer is thrilled to have the opportunity to treat such an influential and historical building,” says Jorge Moreno, Bayer Environmental Science representative. “Premise insecticide will prevent future infestations in the Little White House while maintaining the integrity of the structure.”
