CHICAGO – Pest control technicians now have the ability to select the most effective methods for treating individual bed bug infestations. The LightsOut Lab-In-A-Bag Pesticide Efficacy Kit is now available to assist the pest management industry in choosing the most suitable products for eliminating bed bugs.
“This past summer, the country witnessed a resurgence of bedbugs and the pests are increasingly growing resistant to modern pesticides,” said Brian Hirsch, director of sales, Industrial Division at Protect-A-Bed. “The LightsOut Lab-In-A-Bag is designed to allow pest managers to sift through the clutter of what’s available and determine a targeted and specific approach for each individual case.”
Protect-A-Bed teamed with entomologists from the University of Kentucky to develop the testing kit, which is the first of its kind and includes a cushioned and insulated carry bag, modular evaluation dishes, interchangeable substrate inserts such as furniture fabric, bedding fabric and wood, a hand magnifier, specimen collection forceps, dust application brush, grease pencil and detailed instructions for the cooling pack. A cooling pack is used to transport the bedbugs when necessary and to prevent the pests from inadvertently dying during the hot summer months.
In addition to assisting pest technicians to prescribe the ideal pesticide, Lab-In-A-Bag also effectively helps identify resistant-strain bedbugs, and allows for better control of an infestation with less pesticide use.
