PUYALLUP, Wash. — Rambo Total Pest Control is celebrating one year at its headquarters — nicknamed “The Castle.” With its dramatic rooflines and sturdy 1929 construction, this property in the Puyallup/Summit area caught the eye of owners Luke and Tera Rambo during a neighborhood drive in the summer of 2020.
The world was navigating a pandemic, but when they saw the “for sale” sign out front, they knew they had to take a look. They closed on the home in November 2020, expecting a few months of renovation work to convert the former residence into a functioning business space. Those few months turned into over three and a half years of extensive renovations.
Throughout the renovation process, the team completely reworked the structure to meet the needs of their growing company. This included:
• Replacing all outdated wiring and plumbing
• Rebuilding the sewer system
• Expanding the driveway
• Installing new window
• Repairing original brick and mortar
• Reinforcing the roof
They also removed the original plaster and lathe down to the studs to fully upgrade the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems—while still preserving the original layout wherever possible. The upstairs bedrooms became offices for the management team, the dining and kitchen areas were converted into workspaces, the living room now holds three workstations, and the upstairs rec room serves as a conference room.
“There were times during the three-year process that we definitely had doubts whether we made the right decision to invest in this property,” said Luke Rambo. “Now that it is complete and we have been here for a year, we’re confident it was absolutely worth it.”
Today, The Castle is a space that not only reflects the company’s values and history — it also gives them room to grow, sitting on two acres that will support Rambo Total Pest Control for decades to come, Rambo said.
