MILWAUKEE - Working with virtual reality has had its share of ups and downs for Tony Gustin, creator/star of Tony’s Creepy Crawly Zoo who recently launched his virtual project, Creepy World VR.
“You know, when trying to create a unique experience, the amount of work that goes into each step is just daunting, Especially when you're doing it all yourself and out of pocket. Failures, setbacks, and technical issues plague you at every step...and then, through all of it, something goes right.”
What went right for Gustin were his efforts to capture video of a Mexican redknee tarantula molting. Gustin invites viewers to watch the tarantula shed its exoskeleton (allowing for growth and repair), a process that can take up to 15 hours. The video runs about five minutes.
“This VR video offers an unprecedented immersive insight into the tarantula's molting process, a must-watch for tarantula owners, enthusiasts, and nature explorers. Be prepared to see the tarantula flip onto its back and stay in this position, a critical part of the molting process.”
