PORTLAND, Ore. — The Ronald McDonald East House in Portland posted on their Facebook page earlier this month that they were in dire need of a variety of items including: newborn baby clothes, toddler and baby toys, cleaning supplies, cans of tuna, granola bars, basic toiletries and much more. Upon reading the request of the Ronald McDonald house, Rentokil colleagues across four brands sprang into action to help. Eden, Alpha Ecological, Ambius, and Green Choice colleagues divvied up the list and scheduled a time to go drop off the items together. One of the colleagues from Ambius, Shawnay Norris, brought office plants with her to donate to the Ronald McDonald House office volunteers.
The volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House posted later that day thanking the contributors, “We had a wonderful response to our Wish List Wednesday? request! A gigantic round of thanks to the good people at Rentokil, Ambius, Alpha Ecological Pest Control, Eden Pest Control and Green Choice Pest Control!” They also wrote a thank you letter stating, “Your support means the world! Thank you so much for thinking of us!”
Jack Marlowe, Rentokil’s NW Regional Director, commented on the significance of this cross-brand community service project:
There is a certain spark that is ignited when colleagues serve their communities together. The quick response from our Rentokil colleagues across different brands to help the Ronald McDonald House is evidence of that. Many of these colleagues have never met in person before, but that did not matter in the slightest. As a director in the Northwest market, I was encouraged to see our colleagues team up under the Rentokil name to do something significant for their community.
The colleagues of these four Rentokil brands that were represented in this event are eager to join forces again in the near future to be involved in more community service events. “It’s great to see our colleagues taking the initiative to work together as a team regardless of their background,” says David Kaylor, NW Regional Manager. “It’s one thing for a manager to send out a mass email encouraging teamwork, but it’s another thing altogether when colleagues take action and show tangible examples of teamwork; like the Ronald McDonald East House donations.”
Rentokil realizes that a certain type of camaraderie develops when service is involved. The process of bringing companies together during a merger and acquisition strategy is much more seamless when brands share a unified vision of serving the community.
