Rentokil is using a variety of technology including PestConnect, a remote sensor that uses infrared rays to alert high-tech traps to snare incoming small mammals, the Financial Times reports.
The UK-based company launched PestConnect as a pilot in the Netherlands and is now successfully running at 300 location, according to Rentokil. This technology uses rodent traps with wireless data connectivity that communicate when activated - to inform the technician and update in real-time the myRentokil extranet – altering to a possible issue.
Rentokil Chief Executive Andy Ransom told the Financial Times that he believes the technologies will help improve margins and expand market share in a global industry for eradicating mice, rats, termites and bedbugs that is growing at about 5 per cent a year.
