A team of runners from Residex ran in the Achilles Hope and Possibility 5 Mile Race in honor of all wounded and fallen veterans last week.. Nearly 40 of Residex’s employees, family, and friends took off from the starting line to either run or walk the five mile loop around New York City’s Central Park.
The Achilles Freedom Team, founded in 2004, is a charity that was initially started for wounded veterans returning from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over the years though, veterans from all wars have joined the Achilles Freedom Team, and have found great joy and pride through racing and representing their country. This year, Residex donated their third hand-crank bike to the Freedom Team, just in time for the Hope and Possibility Race, and dedicated it to all the fallen and wounded soldiers.
“Racing alongside the wounded veterans was both an honor and incredibly inspiring,” Christopher Donaghy, CEO of Residex, stated. “What these soldiers have done for our country can never be forgotten.”
With a new goal of raising $20,000 for the Achilles Freedom Team in 2010, Residex will surely continue their strong support for the wounded veterans. Racing allows the veterans new dreams and goals to prosper, and the Residex Team is honored to help these dreams grow.
To support our wounded veterans you can make a donation to the Achilles Freedom Team by visiting www.firstgiving.com/residex. One hundred percent of the money donated goes to help wounded veterans.
