Residex Celebrates Five Year Anniversary as an Independent Company

April 30th marks five years since Residex became an independent in the wake of Rollins' purchase of Western Industries, which previously owned Residex.

CRANFORD, N.J. — The words “Failure is not an option” adorn the walls of  the Residex conference room, a quote that inspires Chris Donaghy, CEO and president of Residex, everyday. Donaghy guides the attitude and drive of his Residex teammates in the spirit of the Apollo 13 mission control and crew where everyone fights for a successful outcome despite the adversity faced in any situation.

Donaghy believes that no challenge in life is insurmountable unless the participants believe they "can't do."  His firm belief in a "can do" attitude is the very essence that allowed him to rescue Residex and its employees from an uncertain future during the acquisition from Rollins and Western five years ago.  This opportunity didn't just happen, Donaghy and his team made it happen through faith, unity and strength along with some help from his friends.

April 30 marks the hallmark date, Donaghy recalls. "What I cherish the most about the whole experience is the way everyone came together on this effort. We took a stand, and we all stood to lose our jobs if the acquisition didn't go through. Taking a stand for something one deeply believes in comes natural, and with a couple of employee exceptions, we were all in this thing together. It felt good to win in the face of adversity and the naysayers who said ‘they won't make it,’”said Donaghy. “That kind of a challenge fuels my personal competitive fire and it helped me rally the troops behind something they were willing to fight to keep.”

Taking a stand does come easy to this patriotic president and CEO of Residex, an American owned and operated distributor of pest control products and supplies in business since 1946. The acquisition allowed Donaghy to support causes near and dear to his heart. Thus, one of the big reasons he chose to support the Achilles Freedom Team Charity that serves wounded and disabled veteran's in their efforts to make an athletic competitive comeback despite their severe physical handicaps. Donaghy is widely known for his patriotism shown in his everyday choices to "Buy American" whenever possible and support the troops through a corporate program that donates supplies to family members of employees stationed overseas.  Donaghy has also written patriotic poetry published on Residex blog.

“In the end, I was blessed with a group of individuals who did what needed to be done in order to meet and beat the challenge before us. Our investors should not go unrecognized in this big event as they all took a stand for Residex without a second thought, and they have been great partners ever since,” said Donaghy.

Residex’s product line has grown significantly since the separation from Western. The supplier now carries products that allow Residex customers to expand their business offerings and support their bottom line through the recession. Gutter protection systems, dehumidifiers and mattress encasements, to name just a few, have aided their customer’s profitability. But this distributor doesn’t simply supply the products. They recently launched a Get Started Business Series which includes launch packets and info-packed seminars giving PMPs everything they need to know to offer profitable new add-on services to their customer base.

“Residex is always looking down the road to see the future industry so that we are prepared to meet and beat the challenges that face our customers, our company, our employees and our partners.”   The acquisition has allowed Donaghy and his team to offer even more cutting edge business practices to Residex customer base, helping the small to medium-sized PMP compete against the large companies that dominate the commercial pest control trade.

Faith, Unity and Strength were the values that defined the successful formation of Residex, LLC.  The words were included in a custom creation given to all Residex, LLC employees when the acquisition was completed five years ago.  These same words are included on their five-year anniversary logo and are still the foundation of the company to this day.  "I will never forget the positive emotions of that period in Residex's long history as a supplier to the professional pest management industry,” remembers Donaghy, “On behalf of Residex, LLC and her employees, thank you so much for supporting us, and remember that we are here to help you succeed."
