Residex to Offer Public Health Forum on Lyme Disease, and West Nile Virus

Residex will be holding the 2009 Public Health Forum on Sept. 9. The all-day event will take an in-depth look at the prevention and threat of Lyme disease, West Nile virus and Eastern Equine virus.

Residex will be holding the 2009 Public Health Forum on Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The all-day event will take an in-depth look at the prevention and threat of Lyme disease, West Nile virus and Eastern Equine virus.

The keynote speaker will be Pamela Weintraub, who will share her personal account of Lyme disease. Weintraub is a literary and investigative science journalist who has authored many books. She currently is senior editor at Discover magazine.

Other speakers include:

  • David Simser, Barnstable Country Extension – soaring tick numbers and the spread of disease in New England
  • Dina Richman, FMC – The use and effectiveness of bifenthrin to prevent disease
  • Shawn Mullen, Bayer Cropscience – Controlling mosquitoes and the spread of vector-borne diseases with pyrethroids

    Additionally, a panel of pest management professionals will present the “Current State of Mosquito Control in New England.” The panel includes:
