RFAs Released for Two Northeastern IPM Grants Programs

The Northeastern IPM Center announced the availability of funding for 2009 through two separate IPM grants programs.

The Northeastern IPM Center is pleased to announce the availability of funding for 2009 through two separate grants programs: the IPM Partnership Grants Program and the Northeast Regional IPM Competitive Grants Program. Both programs are supported by the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, and funded projects will foster the development and adoption of integrated pest management (IPM). Full Requests for Applications (RFAs) for each program are linked from http://NortheastIPM.org/grants.cfm. Eligibility and application requirements are briefly described below. IPM PARTNERSHIP GRANTS PROGRAM
Approximately $388,000 will be available in 2009 to support projects that will address or develop regional IPM priorities and further the mission of the Northeastern IPM Center (http://NortheastIPM.org/ ). The IPM Partnership Grants Program seeks applications for six project types: (1) IPM Working Groups, (2) IPM Issues, (3) Regional IPM Publications, (4) IPM Planning and Assessment Documents, (5) State Network Projects, (6) IPM Minigrants.

Eligibility: Anyone in the Northeast may apply. Submissions from private individuals, public and private institutions or organizations, businesses, and commodity groups are encouraged. The primary project director must be from the northeastern region.

NORTHEAST REGIONAL IPM COMPETITIVE GRANTS PROGRAM
Approximately $600,000 will be available in 2009 to support projects that develop pest control tactics, integrate tactics into an IPM system, and extend IPM information to others. The Regional IPM Competitive Grants projects seeks applications for three project types: Research, Extension, and Joint Research-Extension.

Eligibility: Organizations eligible to receive awards through this Regional IPM Competitive Grants Program are state agricultural experiment stations, land-grant colleges and universities (1862 and 1890), research foundations established by land-grant colleges and universities, colleges and universities receiving funds under the Act of October 10, 1962 (16 U.S.C. 582a et seq.), and accredited schools or colleges of veterinary medicine. If necessary, award recipients may subcontract to organizations not eligible to apply. Project directors must be based in the northeastern region.

Submission and deadlines: Applicants must work with their authorized organizational representatives to submit online through Grants.gov. A letter of intent is due on October 24, 2008, and complete proposals are due November 17, 2008. See the complete RFA for full submission instructions.
