WARWICK, R.I. - A neighborhood in Warwick is experiencing a rat problem that Councilman Jeremy Rix believes is related to recent airport construction.
Residents in the Norwood neighborhood have been placing calls to complain about the recent increase of rat population in the area. Rix and the mayor, Scott Avedisian, requested that residents remove any type of bird seed or pet food from their yards that could attract the rodents. In addition, they asked that trash containers be kept covered and wood piles kept one foot above the ground.
Rix said that the vibrations from the construction could have disturbed the rats out of their normal habitat, prompting them to find new homes.
