DALLAS — Riata Capital Group announced Monday that, along with Greenix Pest Control's senior management team, it has sold the company to Gridiron Capital. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Greenix, based in Orem, Utah, offers residential pest control services, including general pest, mosquito and tick management, rodent removal, and specialty services such as bed bug and termite treatment. Founded in 2011, the company operates 37 branches in 19 markets across 16 states and serves more than 250,000 households. It ranked 13th on this year's PCT Top 100 list, with operations concentrated in the Midwest and Northeast.
Riata acquired a controlling interest in Greenix in December 2020 in partnership with Chairman and CEO Bob Nilsen. During Riata’s ownership, the company:
- Increased both customer count and revenue by more than 150%, primarily through organic growth
- Expanded its digital sales platform
- Completed five acquisitions: Rise Pest Control (December 2021); Bamboo Services (November 2023); Insight Pest Solutions (May 2024); ProActive/Spidexx (March 2025) and Rove Pest Control (June 2025)
Barron Fletcher, managing partner at Riata, said the firm’s investment in Greenix focused on supporting growth and working closely with management to strengthen the company’s position in the market.
“Through continued investments and collaboration with the senior team, we’ve helped scale the company significantly,” Fletcher said.
Greenix's business model is built on recurring services and a single-brand strategy, supported by digital infrastructure and customer acquisition efforts. The company has pursued both geographic expansion and strategic acquisitions to grow.
Jeff Fronterhouse, also a managing partner at Riata, said the outcome reflects growth and operational improvements during Riata’s ownership.
Bob Nilsen, CEO of Greenix, said the partnership with Riata helped the company expand its operations and capabilities. “We’ve grown our customer base and revenue significantly, while maintaining service quality,” Nilsen said. “We’re well-positioned for continued growth in this next phase.”
William Blair served as the primary financial advisor to Riata and Greenix, and their primary legal counsel was Kirkland & Ellis. LR Tullius also served as a financial advisor to Riata and Greenix. Goldman Sachs was the exclusive financial advisor to Gridiron Capital.
