TORONTO - Leading grocery chain Loblaw Cos. has closed one of its midtown supermarkets "until further notice" after health inspectors found mice scurrying across the floor, mouse droppings on counters where staff prepare sandwiches or baked goods, and signs of rats at the back of the store.
After finding what they called a "heavy infestation" of mice and rats, as well as other violations, health inspectors ordered the Loblaws at Dupont and Christie Streets closed on Monday night. It remained shut all day yesterday as staff and a pest-control company cleaned the store.
