Rose Pest Solutions Launches Madagascar Cockroach Giveaway Program

TROY, Mich. – In an effort to stress the importance of science in the classroom while promoting the field of entomology, Rose Pest Solutions will give away more than 1,000 Madagascar hissing cockroaches to schools and children’s organizations in Michigan, Ohio and northeast Indiana. The Rose Pest Solutions’ Madagascar Giveaway Program provides teachers with live insects in a plastic habitat and a factsheet with care instructions on a first-come, first-served basis.  The FREE giveaway is available while supplies last and limited to two (2) habitats per school or organization.

The Madagascar hissing cockroach is one of several similar species native to the island of Madagascar that lives on the forest floor near rotten logs. They are large, non-biting insects with a relatively long life cycle that are easy to care for and fun to observe. Since they are sub-tropical insects, they will not survive in our temperature climate and must be cared for indoors.
