TROY, Mich. — Rose Pest Solutions announced that Jim Nelson, Kalamazoo district manager, received the 2011 Extraordinary Leadership Award from the Greater Kalamazoo United Way (GKUW). The award is given to individuals who personally and professionally advocate for the nonprofit organization while demonstrating extraordinary leadership. The event was held on March 22 at the Cityscape Event Center in Kalamazoo.
“The Rose Pest Solutions company philosophy has always stressed the importance of acting as responsible neighbors within the communities where we do business,” said Nelson. “I am proud of our support of such a worthwhile community organization and am truly humbled by this recognition.”
Rose Pest Solutions employees have supported the GKUW for more than 10 years, achieving 100 percent participation during multiple campaigns. In addition, many of the company’s field staff carry and distribute GKUW 211 cards, an information and referral service that provides assistance to individuals in need. Nelson, one of 11 award recipients recognized during the event, has been employed with Rose Pest Solutions since January 1993.
“Jim’s strong and genuine personal support for the United Way has clearly made an impact on our organization and the people around him,” said Jason Horan, senior resource development associate, Greater Kalamazoo United Way. “He has been a wonderful advocate and we are thrilled to present him with this award.”
