WILMINGTON, Del. — Serveon Advanced Business Intelligence SABI™, a new handheld data management tool for pest management professionals, was unveiled at PestWorld ’06 last week.
The mobile data collection unit, which is powered by Serveon, is a tool for the pest control industry that provides customization, reporting and data management.
Based in Wilmington, Del., Serveon is a leading maker of application development products and provider of information technology services for the pest control and agricultural industries.
SABI Mobile is a GPS wireless handheld unit, using a Pharos 525E, that sells for an annual subscription. With the purchase of a two-year subscription, Serveon donates the hardware unit. SABI Mobile is an advanced tool designed specifically to give PMPs, whether commercial or residential, the power to automatically access a previous customer’s treatments, locate specific interior and exterior information and capture data such as nature of infestation, type of treatment, pesticide or trap or bait or other product used, timing, and more.
“SABI Mobile is 100 percent customizable, regardless of the size of a PMP and its needs,” said Daniel Hart, CEO of Serveon Inc., which developed SABI Mobile. “For example, some firms might have the data fields written so that their field personnel are focused on baiting or traps while others are pesticide specific in that they’re utilizing it to capture amounts of product used, whether used inside or outside a home or commercial facility, dates and more critical pieces of information related to a treatment or customer visit. SABI Mobile is truly ideal for quality control of data.”
While all data imported by subscribers is stored on Serveon’s secure server network, with access to only that client’s subscribers, the data is available real-time. PMPs will no longer have to wait for offline reports to be filled out in order to review job servicing, Hart said.
“What this does is it creates incredible accountability for pest control firms looking to track specific data and also specific job details,” Hart added. “And by having it available immediately the reporting process no longer waits for paperwork, it’s a seamless transition from the hand-held unit to the server.”
SABI Mobile GPS features include:
• SABI Mobile is an easy-to-use, easy-to-configure GPS wireless unit that puts the power of data collection and reporting in the hands of PMPs, researchers and regulators, who can then review, analyze, measure and map the data through use of GPS mapping, which utilizes ESRI’s ARC IMS online Server.
• Subscribers with the handheld unit can easily import their treatment data directly to the customized drop down fields of their choosing – and in addition to pest reporting, data can be recorded for traps, infestations size and type, causal factors, specific treatments made and more. Other details about the product:
• SABI Mobile needs no desktop software and can work wirelessly or with a Bluetooth®.
• Offers real-time reporting, mapping of data, and all aspects are customizable to meet a company’s individual business terminology.
• The only agricultural tool that combines Pharos’ in-car or in-field GPS capabilities with Microsoft Windows Mobile™ 5 applications like Pocket Outlook, Windows Media® Player and Internet Explorer.
• When data is already entered into the unit, the uses of the Observation mode are almost limitless. These examples in parentheses, for instance, are representative of the types of specific data that can be selected: For instance, subscribers select the observation (customers) and then the specifics such as customer name, interior or exterior of their home, treatment history, current treatment overview, pesticide/trap/products used, and then maps with latitude, longitude, and more are easily generated, stored and shared.
