OAHU, Hawaii — Sandwich Isle Pest Solutions announced the addition of Marisol Quintanilla, Ph.D., entomologist to the SIPS family.  Her official title here is entomologist, though Marisol’s responsibilities will include overseeing all technical training and quality assurance. She will also be the company's representative on the national Copesan Technical Committee, where she will work with peers throughout North America. This position will allow Quintanilla to actively engage in pest management processes and put her 15 plus years of practical experience to work for you.

She brings with her a wealth of education and experience in the identification and treatment of pests that are evasive in Hawaii and beyond. Her area of expertise and study is in entomology with a specialty in nematology (microscopic roundworms).  She has most recently worked on research and implementation of practices to avoid insect vectored diseases in tomatoes. She has also previously worked as a junior researcher on a project that aimed at managing above and belowground pests of green onions; as well as assisting in gathering information to compile a banana pest and disease IPM guidebook for Hawaii and the Pacific region.

Quintanilla continues to advance her knowledge and serve our community by her participation in several professional societies including: The Hawaiian Entomological Society 2014-2015; The Society of Nematologists, 2003-2015; The Entomological Society of America, 2008-2015; and the Organization of Nematologists of Tropical America, 2005-2015 to name a few.
