TOPEKA, Kan. — More than 200 attendees came together recently to mark the 60th anniversary of Schendel Pest Services, a leading provider of complete pest management services to commercial and residential clients in five states.
Schendel associates and their families from as far away as Arizona attended the celebration held in Schendel’s hometown of Topeka, Kan. A highlight of the gathering was the announcement of an endowed scholarship at Kansas State University. The Schendel-Mages Entomology Scholarship was named for two past owners — Robert Schendel who founded the company and Paul Mages, who purchased the company upon Schendel’s retirement.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to Kansas State entomology students who are in their sophomore, junior, or senior year and who are from either Kansas or Missouri and carry at least a 3.0 GPA.
Schendel associates continued the company’s tradition of community service by using the 60th Anniversary Celebration as an opportunity to raise money for the United Way. The company raffled off a Nintendo Wii game system and other prizes donated by vendors.
