U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) recently drafted a letter to heads of EPA, HUD and Health and Human Services (HHS) urging the groups to form an interagency task force to investigate and resolve bed bug infestations infesting properties.
In his letter Schumer cited the recent NPMA study which reported that reports of bed bug infestations have risen more than 70 percent. Schumer also cited a recent case in which a triage room in Brooklyn’s Kings County Hospital was closed due to the detection of bed bugs on a patient.
