BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — The Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) department announced Monday confirmation of the second 2005 human case of hantavirus, a serious illness spread by rodents.
The report said a 22-year-old female was hospitalized July 6 after complaining of muscle pain and fever, but her condition improved and she was released July 12. Heath Harmon, BCPH epidemiologist, said the department is investigating to see if the two 2005 cases could be related, and said he couldn't speculate if the infections occurred in similar geographic regions of the county.
