A worker for Cook’s Pest Control reported the theft of a 40-inch, flat-screen television from a residence, the News Courier Reports.
Police arrested and charged Farandus Tyrone Hurley with third-degree burglary. He is accused of breaking into a house on Sam Irvin Street in Houston Place Subdivision about 1:25 p.m., said Athens Police Capt. Marty Bruce.
“A worker for Cook’s Pest Control saw an older model, silver Ford Thunderbird with peeling paint drive toward the residence, ” Bruce said. “A little while later, he heard a burglar alarm go off and saw the vehicle leaving the subdivision at a high rate of speed.” When officers arrived, they found the rear door to the residence kicked in and a 40-inch Sony flat-screen television was stolen.”
Using the description of the car, which was provided by the witness, police were able to find Hurley and his vehicle about two hours later at his workplace in Decatur, the captain said.
