In 1986, GPCA honored Glenn Burnett by establishing a member scholarship in his name. Burnett served as Executive Director for GPCA for almost 20 years. Since the inception, GPCA has awarded 93 scholarships to our member’s children. To date $87,000 has been awarded.
Totally funded by a share of the proceeds from the annual charity golf tournament, the scholarship has grown in recent years to seven $1000 awards. Recipients are children of GPCA members who are pursuing a higher education in Georgia.
Rachel Isdell, daughter of Richard Isdell, supervisor for A & R Exterminating (and granddaughter of Allen Isdell, Sr.), Augusta. Rachel will attend Augusta State University where she plans to study nursing.
Douglas Payne, son of Douglas Payne, Commercial Division Manager, Allgood Pest Solutions in Fayetteville. Douglas will attend Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon where he plans to pursue a double major: Criminal Justice and Business.
Robert Boone, Jr., son of Henrietta Boone, Administrative Assistant for Terminix Services in Augusta. Robert plans to attend Kennesaw State University to pursue a degree in Music Education.
Jordan Roberts, son of Cliff Nipper, Owner/operator National Termite & Pest Control, Cordele. Jordan will attend South Georgia College in Valdosta where he plans to pursue a degree in business.
Kayla Minchew, daughter of Jeff Minchew, Owner/operator of Applied Pest Solutions in Menlo. Kayla will attend Georgia Highlands College in Rome and then plans to transfer to Georgia Southern
Andrea Davis, daughter of Wayne Davis, Pest Control Technician with Cook’s Pest Control in Rome. Andrea plans to attend North Georgia College and State University where she holes to major in Athletic Training and minor in dance. Following her undergraduate work she hopes to transfer to the Georgia Medical College and major in Occupational Therapy.
Courtney Hoffman, daughter of Todd Hoffman, Manager at Northwest Exterminating in Alpharetta. Courtney will attend Kennesaw State University where she plans to major in biology. She plans to continue her education to become a pediatric physical therapist.
The scholarship committee is comprised of the GPCA Chairman of the Board (Cliff Nipper, National Termite & Pest Control) Secretary/Treasurer (Lee Tubbs, Daisy Pest Control), Member at Large (John Allen, Pesty John’s Exterminating) and the GPCA Executive Director. Deadline for applications is April 15 each year. Applications are available at the GPCA website, GPCA.org.
