SANFORD, Fla. — Steve Okros, owner of Sorko Services, announced the company's offering of pest, termite, mosquito and wildlife control, in addition to lawn, shrub palm care, irrigation and aquatic weed control and removal. Okros started Sorko Services in March 2018 after taking one year off from selling Heron Home and Outdoor.

Serving in a five-year non-compete for pest control, Okros said he got licensed in aquatic services and launched a website and marketing campaign.

“I started with one employee and myself, together we treated each and every customer,” he said. “Once I realized this was a niche market, I was able to capitalize and very quickly we grew to over $4 million annually in 2022.”

Sorko Services supports all of Lake, Seminole, Volusia, Osceola and Orange Counties in Central Florida.

“There are a ton of lakes in Central Florida and we aim to be able to offer our lawn, pest and wildlife services around all of the lake management services we perform,” Okros said.

The team at Sorko’s has a combined experience of more than 40 years in pest control and lawn care, Okros said, adding the company’s lake management services has helped them stand out amongst the competition.

“There really aren't any companies out there that can take care of your lake weeds, your lawn and your termite or ant service all in one day,” he said. “We operate like a well-oiled machine but we are friendly and local like your neighbor or friend.”

One long term goal for Okros is to grow to a $20 million firm in the next five years.

“Right now, my No. 1 priority is taking care of my customers and my technicians,” he said. “If I have happy techs, I have happy customers, and if I have happy customers, we will continue to grow.”
