A squirrel or group of squirrels is being blamed for knocking out phone and Internet service Tuesday at West High but will not delay the start of school today.
Principal Jerry Arganbright said Wednesday that some rodent, likely squirrels, chewed through a fiber optic line on the west side of the campus at 2901 Melrose Ave. sometime Tuesday morning.
With the loss of the line, phone and Internet services were down for most of the day, he said. He said technical crews from the district made a temporary fix and services were up and running Wednesday, with plans for a more permanent fix of the line likely over the weekend.
