Police Investigate Death of Jill Su, Wife of Dr. Nan-Yao Su

DAVIE, Fla. — Davie police have ruled the death of 59-year-old Jill Su, whose body was found in her bathtub Monday, a homicide, multiple news outlets report. Jill Su is the wife of noted University of Florida Entomology Professor Dr. Nan-Yao Su.

Sources told Local 10 News that on Monday Dr. Su was unable to view a live feed from his home surveillance video system and called his son to go check on his mother.

Pool cleaner Ryan Madriz told WSVN-Ch. 7 that he was leaving the home Monday afternoon when the victim's son ran to him in hysterics and begged him not to leave. "Somebody broke into my house and killed my mom," Madriz said the man told him. "When he said those words, I was like, 'Are you serious?' and I looked down at him and his hands: His arms and his shirt are covered in blood."

Police discovered a smashed window in the rear of the home near the pool, and they are canvassing the neighborhood for surveillance video, WSVN reported.

Dr. Su and the couple's son were both questioned by police well into Tuesday morning, but detectives are not considering either of them a person of interest at this time, Local 10 News reported.
