Smithtown, N.Y. — Suburban Exterminating's green pest control program recently was recognized with the International IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Excellence Award. This honor was presented March 24 at the 2009 International IPM Symposium in Portland, Ore. The recognition was awarded on behalf of the IPM Institute of North America for Suburban Exterminating's leadership in environmental stewardship, Suburban Exterminating reports.
The firm's program is nationally certified as "Green Shield" by the IPM Institute of North America and it was one of the first companies in New York to achieve this status, according to Suburban Exterminating. Additionally, the company's technical director, Lynn Frank, BCE, was a speaker at the event and discussed new green treatments for bed bugs that Suburban has been instrumental in developing. This approach has been successful in New York, the company reports.
"The IPM Excellence Award has merit because of the commitment of the IPM institute in certifying companies and maintaining such high standards. This gave the certification real meaning and separates the truly dedicated companies and those making hollow claims,” Frank said. "By maintaining their impartiality and standards, the general public and the industry as a whole has a verifiable resource to separate companies with a real green philosophy and program and those who merely make claims."
