Kansas City-based Sunflower Pest Solutions in April donated a termite treatment to the US Troop Support Foundation, to help a woman handle a massive termite infestation while her husband serves as a Marine sergeant in Iraq.
The foundation — which sends care packages to active-duty military personnel and helps pay their travel expenses — contacted Sunflower owner Tim Dinneen on behalf of the woman, who lives in Blue Springs, Mo., about 40 miles east of his pest control headquarters.
The woman volunteers with the foundation, and had asked if they could help her get rid of the termites in her upstairs bathroom.
“It was an awesome experience helping out someone who gives so much and does not ask for much in return,” Dinneen said.
Dinneen said he found termites in the bathroom, the basement, the garage, near the fireplace and under a window overhang.
“I found them in, like, five places. They were pretty active,” he said.
