Optigard Ant Gel Bait offers control of a broad spectrum of ants, including Argentine, carpenter, ghost and other pest ant species, by ingestion and transfer of the bait, targeting the colony, not just the workers. The new gel formulation is clear and non-staining, with low odor. It maintains its gel integrity at higher than normal temperatures and won’t “run.”
Optigard Ant Gel Bait uses the non-repellent chemistry of thiamethoxam which controls the entire colony via transfer and trophallaxis (regurgitation). Additionally, Optigard Ant Gel Bait provides a longer window of palatability so, as it ages, ants will continue to feed on the bait without any loss of attraction.
“Optigard products do the job right the first time. Our exclusive thiamethoxam formulation has excellent ingestion activity against a wide range of anthropod pests and is readily disseminated throughout the colony,” said Dr. Deanna Branscome, technical representative, Syngenta Professional Products. “The clear gel formulation of the ant bait is easily applied and offers strong, proven efficacy both indoors and out.”
For added convenience and precision control, Optigard Ant Gel Bait is packaged in ready-to-use 30-gram syringes with individual plungers. The convenient small tubes feature replaceable caps to ensure less mess and wasted product.
Syngenta currently offers Optigard ZT foam treatment with thiamethoxam. Each Optigard product has a distinct formulation and application method, providing pest management professionals with two options, based on the needs of a particular account.
“Based on positive feedback on the efficacy of Optigard ZT, we’re broadening our offering of this highly effective solution,” said Pat Willenbrock, marketing manager, Syngenta Professional Products. “With added convenience and longer palatability, Optigard Ant Gel Bait offers a superior option in ant control.”
