Tawny Crazy Ants Subject of New York Times Feature

Tawny crazy ants, also referred to as Rasberry ants, were the subject of a recent New York Times in-depth feature “There’s a Reason They Call Them ‘Crazy Ants”

The article recounts how these invasive ants are proving problematic for pest management professionals, including Tom Rasberry, the Houston area PCO largely credited with discovering these pests in 2002. “Sometimes,” Rasberry told the NY Times, “I wish I would have never heard of them.” Tawny crazy ants  are capable of killing other insects and also starving out entire colonies. They multiply quickly and can nest in crawl spaces, walls and even house plants.
