While the goals of each of the participants varied by individual, the event was truly inspiring for all that were in attendance. In a celebration of running, both able-bodied and disabled athletes, many of whom were recent veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan pushed their way to the finish line. Some looking to win a medal, some looking to beat a previous time, and some just looking to finish; the goals as individual as the challenges each runner faced.
After the race Team Residex was fortunate to have the opportunity to meet Paul McAlister, the rider of the Residex hand crank. Donated to the Freedom Team in January, the hand crank is stationed at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington DC and used by soldiers for both training and racing.
