Dalipi is a senior at the university majoring in business. He became a student at Graceland University in 2003 after transferring from The University of Prishtina in Prishtina, Kosovo. Dalipi is a survivor of the genocidal war between Serbians and Albanians in Kosovo. NATO entered the region in March of 1999 to provide stability and stop the genocide. Many people remember the era for the tyrannical leadership of Slovodan Milosevic, whose Serbian forces attempted to remove Albanians from the area previously known as Yugoslavia.
Dalipi and his family were one of the few Albanian families to remain in Kosovo during the NATO bombings. During the NATO bombings (March 1999 to June 1999) Dalipi and his family remained inside their two-room apartment with no outside contact. Dalipi also is featured in a book titled “The Hemmingway Book Club of Kosovo,” by Paula Huntley.
“Leonard has brought a different view of the world to our office. It is amazing the freedoms we as Americans take for granted,” said William Houtchens, president of Team Too, “The simple ability of going to McDonald’s requires him to use his passport.”
Dalipi enlightened the office staff of Team Too on the day-to-day life in Kosovo, including his family’s struggles during and after the war.
Team Too has previously partnered with Graceland University to provide for low income families in Lennox area of Los Angeles to send young adults to the university, helping to pay for travel, textbooks, and general living expenses.
