When Hudson joined Terminix more than one year ago, he knew he would be protecting homes, but he had no idea it would include fighting fires. Hudson was discussing a pest problem with a Memphis customer outside her home and was met with a wall of flames when he went inside.
Although on hand to do a routine inspection, Hudson’s reaction was far from ordinary. Knowing his service vehicle was equipped with a fire extinguisher, Hudson returned to his truck to grab his equipment and then ran to battle the blaze.
“When I saw the flames and smoke coming from the house, I didn’t have time to think about what to do,” Hudson said. “I immediately grabbed the extinguisher and started to fight the fire.”
After battling the flames for several minutes, Hudson extinguished the fire. Although the home experienced smoke damage and the loss of several appliances, Hudson’s actions ultimately saved the customer’s home.
“Anyone in my position would have done the same thing,” Hudson said. “It’s scary to think what might have happened to this family’s home if I would not have been there and had the proper equipment on hand.”
After extinguishing the fire, Hudson stayed on schedule and made his final two stops for the day. Both were far more routine.
