CEDAR RAPIDS - Termites are the primary pests that pest management professionals are reporting in post-flood eastern Iowa, according to an article in the Gazette.
Mike O'Toole, owner of AAA Pest Control in Cedar Rapids, said he thought the rat population would increase after the June floods, "but I haven't had even one rat call."
"Termites have been the biggest thing I've seen since the floods," he said. "People are opening their walls and finding damage. A couple of times they've had live termites in their homes."
Tom Hart, environmental specialist for Linn County Public Health, said the department has received relatively few post-flood pest complaints.
