GREENSBORO, N.C. — Don Summey of Pest Management Systems (PMi) says the Triad (N.C.) area could be in for a long swarm season.
“There have already been reports of termite swarms in the Triad area, which indicates the onset of what could be a long swarm season,” he said.
The sole purpose of termite swarming is to establish new termite colonies.Termites are known as "silent destroyers" because of their ability to consume wood, and anything cellulose undetected. Each year, termites cause more than $5 billion in property damage as these winged-pests show up inside homes.
