The annual Texas Pest Control Association workshop at Texas Tech University will be held Sept. 24-25 in Lubbock, Texas, and will offer attendees an opportunity to meet Texas’ new regulators, and learn what lies ahead after the state’s recent regulatory changes.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry in June abolished the Texas Structural Pest Control Board, and transfered its duties to the TDA.
Jim Muse, executive director of the structural pest control service (SPCS), and Jimmy Bush of the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) will be part of a law panel with Bonnie Rabe of the New Mexico Department of Agriculture. Stoy Hedges of Terminix will be the keynote speaker the 24th, and Dr. Don Renchie of the Co-Operative Extension Service will speak on the 25th.
The workshop also will include exhibits where attendees can learn about the latest products in the industry, and exhibitors will also provide technical information.
This year’s program will offer Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) training and the ACE exam, and attendees can earn CEU credits for Texas, TDA and New Mexico.
The association’s board of directors meeting will take place Sept. 23, and all are welcome to attend. For more information on the workshop, please visit www.texaspest.org or call the TPCA office at 800/548-8722.
