ANAHEIM, Calif. — At Western Exterminator Company's annual Shareholders' meeting held on March 31, 2008, Tom Anderson was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the board. Anderson, who has been the chief operating officer (COO) of Western since Jan. 1, 2008, immediately assumed the additional role of chairman of the board.
Anderson is the fourth chairman of the board for Western. The founder of the company, Carl Strom, was his great uncle. After Strom's death in a plane crash in 1961, his wife Daisy was elected to the chair position. When Daisy retired in the mid-1980s, Carl's nephew, Ole Anderson, was chosen by the shareholders as the next chair, a position he held for more than 20 years. Tom Anderson, who this year is celebrating his 35th year with Western , succeeds his late father, Ole Anderson, who passed away on March 2, 2008
