Tony Gustin, who adapted his live insect show into a virtual reality experience, has expanded the project with the addition of the Dan Capps insect collection.
Capps once had the world's largest private insect collection and the only one in the world designed just for the public. “Words can never accurately describe how truly breathtaking it is,” Gustin said. “We scanned the whole thing!”
This link is just the scan “but it speaks for itself,” Gustin added. “Once completed visitors from all over the world can tour this exhibit in VR. You will even be able to interact with an avatar of Dan Capps himself as he tells you about what you are looking at.”
In 2020, at the outset of COVID-19 in the U.S., Gustin transitioned his popular Creepy Crawly Zoo to a Science Park in cyberspace (aka The Metaverse) and had created the world's only macro 360 camera. “I had another whole year of R&D before I got what I wanted, but I got it and it works,” he reports.
This interactive experience can be used by pest management professionals who present to schools/groups or by those who are just insect enthusiasts. Learn more at https://creepycrawlyzoo.com/tonys-creepy-world. To donate to this kids initiative visit www.creepycrawlyzoo.com.
