ORLANDO, Fla. — Last Week, the National Pest Management Association hosted its third annual Leadership Week in Orlando, Fla. The event, held at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress from June 21 to 24, was a chance for members of NPMA’s executive boards to get together to discuss various issues facing the industry.
About 150 pest management professionals attended committee meetings throughout the week, including meetings for NPMA’s Board of Directors, Leadership Development Group, QualityPro Board, Government Affairs, Vector Control Division, Residential Division and many more.
The event was sponsored by BASF Corp. On Wednesday and Thursday, BASF welcomed Donna Milgram, executive director of the National Institute for Women in Trades, Technology and Science (www.iwitts.com). She discussed a variety of topics about involving women in the pest management industry and hosted a panel discussion with several PCOs (including Elizabeth Grimsrud, Massey Services; Judy Black, Steritech; Russ Ives, Rose Pest Solutions; and Mike Rottler, Rottler Pest & Lawn Solutions). A white paper was distributed at the meeting about several pest management companies’ efforts to hire women; look for further information on this topic in the November issue of PCT.
NPMA’s next event is its 10th annual Academy, which will be held July 21-23 at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, Phoenix, Ariz. For more information visit www.pestworld.org.
