RALEIGH, N.C. - Triangle Pest Control has selected Yanghua Ou as the winner of its 2019 academic scholarship. This merit-based scholarship is awarded to one student who is pursuing a degree in business administration, marketing, or other business-related fields.
Donnie Shelton, local businessman and Triangle Pest Control owner, is proud to support the next generation of entrepreneurs and small business owners by awarding this annual scholarship to one local student.
Ou is a freshman at North Carolina State University where she is currently pursuing a business management degree with a concentration in human resources management.
At age 10, Ou began golfing at the country club her father worked at, a hobby she continued after high school. Ou and her family always found a way to pay for lessons, despite their expensive cost, an experience that helped form her business idea.
After graduation, Ou plans to establish a nonprofit that supports talented junior golfers from low-income families by providing affordable lessons, making the sport more accessible and inclusive.
